Respond to the USDA's Request for Information on the CACFP Serious Deficiency Process

In 2016, the USDA proposed a rule that would expand the serious deficiency process currently used in the Child and Adult Care Food Program to the Summer Food Service Program as well as allow sponsors of unaffiliated sites in the CACFP to utilize the process. The USDA received comments in response indicating that the serious deficiency process should be improved before the expansion.

The USDA is seeking information to help to improve the implementation and consistency of serious deficiency process. You can read the full Request for Information and submit a comment directly via Regulations.gov using the ID number FNS-2019-0035-0001.
