The Dakota 10 Story: Shared Services Model with Food and Nutrition in South Dakota

Learn how 10 rural districts came together under the leadership of two school nutrition professionals, Gay Anderson, and Andrea Kruse to optimize pricing, networking, and talent across these districts to save money and build community ties. They found that using group food buying led to significant benefits across school communities. They gained access to a registered dietitian who provided menu planning, they benefitted from professional development training and district collaboration. This project helped them support their students in receiving healthy meals and the resources to build healthy lifestyles.
