Research on Advancing Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion in Nutrition Programs: A Scoping Review
Background: No Kid Hungry partnered with researchers at the Gretchen Swanson Center for Nutrition (GSCN) to conduct a scoping review exploring the Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) strategies that have been published and used within U.S. nutrition programs.
Methods: The scoping review included EDI strategies that have been used in federal, state, and local nutrition programs. The scoping review included research published in peer-review academic journals, government, and non-profit sources. Ultimately, 46 sources were found and included in this review of the research.
Findings and Recommendations: The scoping review summarizes the types of EDI strategies most often used in nutrition programs and how these efforts addressed intersectionality. The research report provides practice, policy, and research recommendations for future efforts to develop, implement, and evaluate EDI strategies.
