Ending the Secrecy Around Afterschool Meals: San Antonio ISD Case Study

When Jenny Arredondo became the Senior Executive Director of Child Nutrition Services for San Antonio ISD in Texas, the afterschool meals program was its “best kept secret."  Within a few years, the district was serving hundreds of thousands of additional suppers to kids in need. It also includes details on the piloting and implementation of Supper in the Classroom in several elementary schools in the district.

This outlines how San Antonio ISD expanded its afterschool meals program with new approaches and models, including Supper in the Classroom, through building awareness and support among district administrators, school principals, and afterschool program providers.
